Home Remodeling FAQ

Professional Home Improvement, Inc

A Quick Reference Guide To Help Ease Your Mind

Are you interested in remodeling your home in the near future? At Professional Home Improvement, our home remodeling contractors collaborate with our clients to answer any concerns they might have about their home improvement projects or remodeling budget. During our discussions, we often heard the same questions from homeowners, which inspired us to create a quick reference guide to help ease your mind.

For your convenience, you can scroll through our home remodeling FAQ to feel more confident about the remodeling process before you even walk through our doors to meet with a Comstock Park remodeler. At Professional Home Improvement, we believe that informed clients make the best clients.

Are you licensed?

Yes, we are licensed to remodel homes. In the state of Michigan, you must be licensed to do any kind of remodeling work for clients.

Are you insured?

Yes, we make sure our workers are protected from any potential medical expenses, should they become injured on the job.

Can I stay in my house?

Depending on the type of home renovation, you may be able to stay in your house. However, some of our clients prefer to stay in a hotel or with family while we work on their home. Most of the time, staying in your house is possible if you don’t mind the construction noise and dust.

If we are working on remodeling your kitchen, keep in mind that you will need to set up a makeshift kitchen somewhere else in your house if you plan on staying.

What can I do to protect my valuables during a home remodeling project?

Make sure to clear the remodeling space of any breakables or valuables. For example, we encourage our clients to take down any pictures hanging on the walls and to move expensive items such as computers or TVs. Also, make sure to drape and secure sheets over furniture or just plan on moving them to another room.

How can I protect the other areas of my home?

To protect the other areas of your home from drywall dust, you can seal off entryways to your living spaces. Be sure to seal up air ducts and shut down heating and cooling systems to prevent construction dust from circulating throughout your house.

Who will make sure the proper permits are obtained?

We usually take the initiative of getting you the proper permits for your latest home remodel. However, it’s also possible to get the permits yourself.

How much will this cost?

It’s hard for us to estimate accurately without first seeing the area of your home you wish to remodel. When determining an estimate for your project, we also include the cost of materials and labor. At Professional Home Improvement, we always encourage our clients to come up with questions of their own that relate to their specific design and build goals. We are always happy to answer any of your questions.
